Pipa acts in universities, schools, alternative media, associations, institutions and NGOs among others creating events and looking for objectively reach the audience that is interested in the theme of the specific film. We also seek to map places like cultural centers, bookstores and concert halls where we aim to achieve the target profile in the dissemination of films.
One of the aspects of Pipa’s work is to enable the display of Brazilian films in the country, promoting events, exhibitions and festivals. Besides we are the only company in the market that has a diagnosis of the independent circuit in Brazil. The aggregate socio-cultural character of this initiative is one of our great differentials. It was the effort to form public and benefit people who have difficult to access to Brazilian content that we developed the concept of Creative Distribution and Creative Promotion, seeking to:
• Popularize and democratize access to cultural equipments;
• Renew movie audiences;
• Promote the access of low-income people and also people who do not have the habit of watching Brazilian films, intending to form audiences;
• Encourage cultural agents presenting them new opportunities for work and to expand their professional horizons;
• Empower local cultural agents to seek partnerships and create alternatives to the formation of social and cultural networks in their communities;
• Return of the governmental money by offering public access to cultural products generated from the benefits obtained through legal incentives to culture;
• Cause the reflection on social behavior, cultural and political through film exhibition;
• Use the cinema to provoke reflection on social, cultural and political behavior;
• Encourage the market for movies with differentiated launch, always looking for the target audience of each work.
Within the concept of Creative Promotion, Pipa carried out nearly a hundred Brazilian films such as: Tainah, an Amazon Adventure (Tainá – uma aventura da Amazônia), Janela da Alma, Maids (Domésticas), Edifício Master, Playing (Jogo de Cena), Entreatos, Peões, Nelson Freire, Paulinho da Viola – Meu tempo é hoje, Mutum, Linha de Passe, Olga, Almost Brothers (Quase Dois Irmãos), Pro Dia Nascer Feliz, Língua - Vidas em Português, Two Lost in a Dirty Night (Dois Perdidos Numa Noite Suja), The Pope's Toilet (O Banheiro do Papa), Born to Be Blind (A Pessoa É Para O Que Nasce), Fala Tu, etc.
In 2005, we started the activity of film distribution within the same concept. In 2009 we have in our catalog: Morro da Conceição, Celeste e Estrela, Outra Memória, Zé Pureza, Oscar Niemeyer – A Vida É Um Sopro, O Quinze, Pretérito Perfeito, Meu Brasil, Memória Para Uso Diário, L.A.P.A., Adagio Sostenuto e Cinderellas, Wolves and a Charming Prince (Cinderelas, Lobos e Um Príncipe Encantado).
